First-winter Ivory Gull found by Peder Svingen in Duluth's Canal Park around 11:30 this morning. Awesome bird! I didn't even have to leave work to see it...I found it in my scope from the Fitgers Parking ramp. It was floating on an ice floe it shared with several Herring Gulls. I hadn't seen this species since the one in South St. Paul on the Mississippi River in 19??...well, a long time ago anyway.
I really hope this bird sticks around and others can get better photos of it. |
